MARIETTA – On Tuesday, July 10, 2018, Mayor Steve Tumlin was reelected to serve his third term on the Board of the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia (MEAG Power) as the Secretary and Treasurer.
The Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia is a nonprofit, statewide generation and transmission organization that is recognized as one of the premier joint action agencies in the country. Created by the Georgia General Assembly in 1975, MEAG Power provides reliable, competitive wholesale electricity to its 49-member communities, who own their local distribution systems.
The City of Marietta has been a member of MEAG since its inception in 1975 by way of the City owned utility, Marietta Power and Water. As Mayor of Marietta, Mayor Tumlin serves as the Chairman of the Board of Lights and Water for Marietta Power and Water.
