Evening with History: Southern Tufts Lecture & Book Signing

MARIETTA - On Tuesday, June 18, 2019, the Marietta Museum of History presents its latest installment of the popular Evening with History series. This series highlights research and publications in the field of local and regional history.

The Museum is excited to have author Ashley Callahan here to discuss her book, Southern Tufts: The Regional Origins and National Craze for Chenille Fashion.  Ms. Callahan explores the story of chenille fashion and its connections to stylistic trends, automobile tourism, especially along the Dixie Highway.  Ms. Callahan will sign books after the lecture, which are available for purchase in the Museum Store.

Ashley Callahan has an MA in the history of American decorative arts from Parsons School of Design and the Cooper-Hewitt, Smithsonian Institution, and a BA in art history from the University of South Carolina.

The Marietta Museum of History uses ordinary objects to tell the extraordinary stories of Marietta and Cobb County's rich history and culture. Galleries and exhibits cover topics such as military history, home life throughout the centuries, technology and local businesses from our past.
