MARIETTA - Join the Marietta Museum of History as it continues its Diverse Cobb series with additional offerings by Marietta’s own Michael Thomas. Diverse Cobb programming focuses on many facets of local black history with the goal of educating the community on overlooked, difficult, and complex topics. This fall, we will specifically highlight the history, stories and importance of Marietta’s historically black neighborhoods. These are informative and fascinating presentations, and all are welcome to attend.

Dates and Topics:

9/16/19 @ 6:30 pm: Louisville

10/14/19 @ 6:30 pm: Baptist Town

11/18/19 @ 6:30 pm: Liberia/Fort Hill 

Cost: $5 for not yet Museum members and Free for Museum members. 

These events compliment the museum’s latest temporary exhibit, The Man with the Camera: Photographs by Raymond T. Burford. This exhibit includes images of all of Marietta’s historically black neighborhoods between the 1930s and 1960s.

The Museum uses ordinary objects to tell the extraordinary stories of Marietta and Cobb County’s rich history and culture.  Galleries and exhibits cover topics such as military history, home life throughout the centuries, technology and local businesses from our past.
