The Marietta Fire Department wants to remind all residents that while the 2nd week of October each year focuses on Fire Prevention this is truly a year-round goal that every family should practice.
The 2020 Fire Prevention Week theme is “Serve Up Fire Safety in The Kitchen!” The Marietta Fire Department joins the National Fire Protection Association in reminding our residents to practice the following safety tips while cooking:
- Never leave cooking attended.
- Keep your cooking area clear of combustible materials.
- Have a “kid free zone” of at least 3 feet around all cooking appliances.
- Always keep a lid nearby when cooking. If a fire occurs, turn the heat off to the stovetop and slide the lid over the pan to extinguish the fire. Leave the lid over the pan until it has cooled.
Contact the Marietta Fire Department through our website www.MariettaFire.com or call us @ 770-794-5466 if you would like to learn more about our “Be MFD Safe” program and free Home Safety Visits.
