Cobb County residents approved a referendum for a one-cent sales tax on September 20, 2005. Additional funding will be collected using a special purpose local option sales tax (one percent) between January 2006 and December 2011. The money raised from the sales tax will be used to fund transportation improvement projects in the city of Marietta and Cobb County.
