Council Committees
Committee Appointments
Marietta City Council has seven committees that discuss new initiatives and legislation before deciding whether to forward issues to the full Council for consideration and possible action. Each City Council member chairs one committee and serves on two other committees. The mayor annually makes appointments of council members to the committees, which are subject to the approval of council.Committee Decisions
If more than one committee could potentially consider a matter, it would go to the committee most affected. If that is not easily determined, the committee chairmen involved would decide which committee should hear the matter, or the issue can be dealt with as a joint committee of the two committees in question.-
