MARIETTA – The City of Marietta’s Community Development Division is pleased to announce they are now accepting applications for the Emergency Heating-Ventilation Air Conditioning Project (HVAC) which offers elderly and/or disabled City of Marietta Homeowners the installation of a Heating and Ventilation system or replacement of a defective system, when the absence of properly operating equipment poses a serious threat to the health and safety of the occupants.

For information on how to apply for these grants, please view the website and select Emergency HVAC INQUIRY.

Grant Opportunity

The HVAC Project MAY provide a One-Time Grant to Very Low Income (VLI) Elderly (Age 62 and Older) and Disabled (ELD) homeowners who have lived in the home as the principal residence for a minimum of three (3) years and have limited resources to purchase or repair an adequate heating and air-conditioning system.

A maximum amount of Grant funds will be available annually to qualified homeowners on a first-come first-served basis. To apply, please view the website.

Emergency Procedures:

To address a potentially dangerous situation, -extremely hot or cold conditions- federal regulations regarding the elimination of lead-based paint in homes built prior to 1978 will be bypassed if there are no occupants under age six. If asbestos in the current heating system components will be disturbed by workers, it will be removed in accordance with federal regulations.

Contractor Selection:

The Community Development Division (CDD) has solicited bids from qualified contractors to enter into a One-Year Sole Source Agreement to provide the HVAC equipment, installation and service to eligible homes within a short timeframe following notice.

HOMEOWNER RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The homeowner must complete and submit the Community Development Division Homeowner Assistance Application will ALL Income and Homeownership documents;
  • The Homeowner should submit any HVAC Service reports obtained from a certified HVAC service;
  • If approved, the Housing Coordinator will inspect the home to identify the condition of the current HVAC system, or the capacity for installation of a new system; and prepare a work write-up and cost estimate of the necessary work to be performed;
  • The Manager will review the work write-up and cost estimate; discuss the project timetable with the Homeowner and submit the work order to the Sole Source Contractor.
