Opioid addiction often begins in an innocent way with someone being legitimately treated for pain resulting from an illness or injury but when their prescription ends their body still desires opioids, pushing them to seek opioids by any means possible.
If they continue consuming opioids, their addiction worsens and the positive constructive things in their lives decline as they lose relationships, homes, jobs and so on. If the people around them see the signs of an addiction problem early enough, they can cause an intervention that can literally save the individual’s life.
In a recent Pastor's Forum, MPD officers and multiple local faith based leaders discussed the need for a way to combat this epidemic together, on the local level. The decision was made to develop this pamphlet as a first step in raising public awareness to the scope of this problem. This information is designed to be used publicly.
