MARIETTA – The Marietta community will again be “dancing in the street” during the Glover Park Concert Series presented by LGE Community Credit Union. The series features local and regional acts on the last Friday night, April through September (August date is the 4th Friday) with a special Saturday concert by the Symphony on the Square. With eleven locations serving the community, LGE Community Credit Union provides a Smarter way to bank.  “We are extremely excited for this opportunity to support local musicians. Our philosophy is “people helping people” and this give us another avenue in the community to give back,” says Scott Brooks, Vice-President of Marketing. The concerts are free but if you are looking for a “front-row seat,” a limited number of tables can be reserved for a fee. Table reservations are taken on a first come basis (and will sell out quickly) on the first working day of each month beginning at 8:00 a.m.

The concert lineup:

Blankets and lawn chairs may be set up in the park. Personal tables and plastic ground coverings are not permitted in the park, however they may be set up on the street after 5:30 p.m. Bring a picnic dinner (beer & wine is permitted) or dine in one of the many fine restaurants located on the square.

Join others and participate in the table decorating contest sponsored by Coldwell Banker-Marietta West Cobb branch. The contest is held prior to each concert with the winner will take home a basket full of goodies including 6 tickets to the Studio Movie Grill. Registration is not required and it is free to participate. Winner will be announced prior to the concert.

Scott Ransom is the featured artist for the concert series poster. He considered himself for the most part to be a self-taught artist and believes his gift and love of art comes from his father, Ron Ransom. He took art classes growing up and studied art and design at Georgia Southern and the University of Georgia but his career took him in a different direction. He tries to paint what he sees and prefers to work in watercolors and oils. Scott has continued to paint and draw as a hobby and has exhibited his work around town. He and his wife Becky of 37 years live in Marietta and have 2 children and one grandchild.
