Strand Theatre Announces April Shows

MARIETTA – The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre is pleased to share the schedule for all April shows and events. For all shows tickets are available at www.earlsmithstrand.org or at the box office at 770.293.0080 and 117 North Park Square. The box office is open 11am-6pm Monday through Friday, Saturdays from 9am-12pm, and two hours before showtime.

Title: Clue

WHAT: Film screening

WHEN: Friday, April 6 @ 8PM

WHERE: The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre

COST: $8/$7

INFO: Take one classic who-dun-it board game, add in Tim Curry, Lesley Ann Warren, and Christopher Lloyd, sprinkle in multiple endings and you end up with a delightfully cheesy, clever slapstick cult classic that never loses its magic.

Title: Strand Ole Opry’s Music of Bob Dylan

WHAT: Country music concert

WHEN: Saturday, April 7 @ 8PM

WHERE: The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre

COST: $18/$20

INFO: Join us for a special Strand Ole Opry this April as we take on the best of the bard with bluegrass flair! Get ready to hear your favorite hits from albums like Blonde on Blonde, The Times They Are A-Changin', Another Side of Bob Dylan, and more with an extra dose of banjo and fiddle. This back-porch special featuring Travis Cottle and his One Horse Band and a host of guest vocalists is sure to please country fans of all ages!

Following in the footsteps of a great southern tradition, this concert will transport patrons to the old south with beautiful vocals and live band accompaniment, as well as traditional southern storytelling. Join the performers in the Lumiere Lounge for some drinks and maybe even some sing-alongs after the show!

Using all of The Strand—including its beautiful 500-seat auditorium and proscenium stage—this interactive, world-premiere event challenges the audience to identify the true story behind a nefarious crime and the true criminal with a nefarious motive. Perfect for mystery enthusiasts, play veterans, and non-theatre goers alike, Murder! at The Strand is your opportunity to experience the historic Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre as never before.

INFO: Looking for another fun girls night out this April? We've got just the thing. Get ready to party it up with a margarita in one hand, your flashiest boa in the other, and a theatre full of your favorite friends at Mamma Mia (and margaritas)! Set on the colorful Greek island of Kalokairi, the plot serves as a lively background for a wealth of ABBA songs. A young woman soon to be married discovers that any one of three men (Pierce Brosnan, Stellan Skarsgård, Colin Firth) could be her father. She invites all three to the wedding without telling her mother, Donna (Meryl Streep). Watch the drama ensue in this feel-good experience that will have you singing and dancing in the aisles. The Strand will have a margarita bar to complement this big screen showing of Mamma Mia. Live organ pops variety show and sing-along at 7:30 PM. WHAT: Independent film screening

WHEN: Wednesday, April 25 @ 7:30PM

WHERE: The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre

COST: $5, free popcorn & soda with student ID

INFO: The Marietta International Film Festival and the Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre team up to bring a monthly screening of indie movies to the big screen. This short and feature-length indie film night will showcase works from all over the United States, as well as films from all over the world. Indie Night at The Strand is a great way for movie lovers to explore new films that they wouldn’t have the chance to see anywhere else and support their local theatre at the same time.

Films to be screened April 25:

Short Film: Hidden Tears (Georgia) – A short film about the foster care system, seen from the viewpoint of both the foster parents and the biological mother

Short Film: Walk In Someone Else’s Shoes (Georgia) – Be careful – your words are more powerful than you may realize. All the scenarios in this film come from real situations, experienced by the high school aged filmmakers and their friends.

Feature Film: Klippers (Georgia) – A US Marine falls for an assassin who has been sent to kill her by the Marine’s ex-husband. Now the assassin must face the consequences of his actions.

Title: Brew With A View NFL Draft

WHAT: Terrace party

WHEN: Thursday, April 26 @ 7PM

WHERE: The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre

COST: FREE

INFO: Join us at a special Thursday night Brew With A View for the first round of the 2018 NFL draft! Featuring Red Hare Brewing Company brews on tap.

WHAT: Movie screening

WHEN: Friday, April 27 @ 87PM

COST: $8/$7

INFO: Get ready to do the truffle shuffle all up and down the aisles because we're making dreams (yours and ours, honestly) come true and showing the classic 80's cinema masterpiece The Goonies on the big screen! Starring Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Corey Feldman, and more, this family favorite follows a group of misfit pals on a quest to find a pirate's buried treasure in hopes of saving their foreclosed home. Great for kids or teens during the Glover Park Concert!

Title: DEPARTURE: The Journey Tribute Band

WHAT: Tribute concert

WHEN: Saturday, April 28 @ 8PM

WHERE: The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre

COST: $20

INFO: Departure has become the most respected Journey tribute band in the nation by replicating the look, sound and feel of the original 80’s rock supergroup Journey. The five band members have developed an amazing on-stage chemistry. These veteran musicians pride themselves on giving their audience an incredible high-energy stage show from start to finish. Featured lead vocalist, Brian Williams, has an amazing singing voice flawlessly matching Steve Perry’s vocal range and movements. Departure also highlights the early Journey years featuring Joel Hayes on keys and lead vocals.
