MARIETTA - The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre announced the inaugural year of its Page to Screen Book Club, a monthly book club where members can read the books behind the movies before watching them on the big screen.

The Page to Screen Book Club will take a dive into the world of storytelling by reading, discussing, and then watching the film inspired by the novel. For book and movie lovers alike, the Page to Screen book club is an opportunity to connect with like-minded people to talk literature, film, and storytelling in a welcoming and relaxed environment.

Members of the club will meet in the Lumiere Lounge for drinks and discussion of the month’s book before moving into the auditorium to watch it on the big screen. The club is open to anyone who would like to join, although it is 21+ due to the meeting location.

Page to Screen offers three options for getting involved:

•    Membership: A paid membership of $15 a month that includes a copy of that month’s book, free admission to the movie, and a guest pass.

•    Drop in: A commitment-free option, this includes the meeting and the movie ticket and can be purchased at any time through the box office. Cost of movie ticket is $9.

•    Meeting only: For a totally cost-free option, visitors can come to the meeting to discuss the book without staying to watch the movie after.

To sign up for the book club, interested parties can visit strandmarietta.org or visit the Page to Screen Book Club on Facebook.

Page to Screen is hosted by Betsy Throop, an event planner and volunteer coordinator. She is a board member of Marietta Kiwanis and is involved in many local projects such as the Marietta Pilgrimage Home Tour, Marietta TrailFest, and events at The Strand.
