MARIETTA - Former Marietta Councilman Phillip Goldstein was recognized with the Lifetime Service Award from the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) in recognition of over 37 years of service to the city. The award was presented to Goldstein during the city council meeting in Marietta on March 13.
Goldstein began serving the city in 1980 as councilmember in Ward 7. Among other accomplishments, Phillip worked for over two terms acquiring property to fund the extension of Marietta Parkway which has become vital to the city’s transportation infrastructure. Goldstein also served on the GMA Board of Directors and served as President of the GMA 3rd District West.
“Councilman Goldstein demonstrated his commitment to the city through his many years of generous service to its residents,” said GMA Executive Director Larry Hanson. “Marietta is fortunate to have that kind of dedicated leadership, and Georgia’s cities are also grateful to have seen the example he set for all city leaders.”
Based in Atlanta, GMA is a voluntary, non-profit organization that provides legislative advocacy, educational, employee benefit and consulting services to its 538 member cities.
