MARIETTA – Keep Marietta Beautiful and the Marietta Tree Keepers are pleased to announce that the City of Marietta has been named a Tree City USA Community for the 36th year.
The Tree City USA designation comes from the National Arbor Day Foundation, which is a Nebraska based organization dedicated to encouraging tree care and tree planting programs across the United States. Communities that receive the designation are required to maintain a tree ordinance as well as an established tree advocacy/governing body that supports an urban forestry program.
FUN FACT: February 6, 1989, Marietta was the second city in the state of Georgia to be granted the title of Tree City USA.
