MARIETTA - Cobb Landmarks will celebrate the completion of The Next Generation project with a ribbon cutting on May 18th. The project included relocating the historic Manning Family Cabin to the Root House property, constructing a new Visitor Center and staff offices, and remodeling and expanding our museum exhibits. This event will be held in conjunction with the annual National Historic Preservation Month celebration co-hosted with the Marietta Historic Preservation Commission.

ABOUT THE WILLIAM ROOT HOUSE: Owned and operated by Cobb Landmarks & Historical Society, the William Root House is one of the oldest homes remaining in the Atlanta area. Interactive touchscreens and comprehensive exhibits tell visitors about life in antebellum Georgia. Home to the Root family from 1845 to 1886, the house and property have been meticulously restored to their c. 1860 appearance.
