MARIETTA – On Wednesday, May 24, 2023, City officials were pleased to celebrate not only National Public Works Week but also commemorate May as Building Safety Month.
Mayor Steve Tumlin was honored to issue a proclamation declaring the week of May 21-27 as National Public Works Week in Marietta. In his proclamation, Mayor Tumlin stated, “Public works professionals focus on infrastructure, facilities and services that are of vital importance to sustainable and resilient communities and to the public health, high quality of life and well-being of the people of Marietta.”
This year marks the 63rd annual National Public Works Week sponsored by the American Public Works Association/Canadian Public Works Association.
Mayor Tumlin also recognized the month of May as Building Safety Month in Marietta by issuing a proclamation presented to the Public Works Department. Mayor Tumlin stated, “Marietta is committed to recognizing that our growth and strength depends on the safety and economic value of the homes, buildings and infrastructure that serve our citizens. Our confidence in the resilience of these buildings that make up our community is achieved through the devotion of vigilant guardians who work year-round to ensure the safe construction of buildings.”
