MARIETTA – Recently, during the Annual American Public Works Association Georgia Chapter’s Conference, the City of Marietta’s Public Works Director, Mark Rice, was named the Public Works Professional Manager of the Year.
The Public Works Professional Manager of the Year Award seeks to recognize outstanding achievement in the area of administration within the public works department and to inspire excellence and dedication in the public sector by recognizing the outstanding career service achievements of administrative professionals.
“I am so proud of Mark Rice for being such an integral part of our team as our Public Works Director,” said City Manager Bill Bruton. “It is a great honor that his dedication towards his profession has been recognized by the Georgia Chapter of the American Public Works Association. His leadership and vision for our City are unmatched, and we are grateful for his service to Marietta.”
The criteria used to select a person for this top honor include significant contributions to the advancement of administrative management. Mr. Rice was citing for his willingness to use new and innovative ideas and technology in advancing the effectiveness of administrative management. He also achieved a high degree of satisfaction among customers and other stakeholders.
“I am honored to be recognized by my colleagues and coworkers for my career in Public Works,” said Public Works Director Mark Rice. “I am thankful to lead such a wonderful, talented, and capable group of individuals who help make our City a wonderful place to live and work.”
