MARIETTA - On February 8, 2017, the Marietta City Council appointed members to the City's Historic Preservation Commission and Historic Board of Review during the City Council meeting.
Council appointed Steve Imler to Ward 1 of the Marietta Historic Preservation Commission for a three-year term expiring February 9, 2020.
About the Historic Preservation Commission
Marietta's historic Preservation Commission protects and enhances the historical and aesthetic attraction to tourists and visitors; promotes and stimulates business; provides for the protection, enhancement, perpetuation, and use of places, districts, sites, buildings, structures, and works of art having a special historic, architectural, cultural, or aesthetic interest or value; and provides reasonable flexibility for property owners to improve and maintain their properties below certain thresholds and for special circumstances.
Council appointed Dorothy Woodruff to Ward 1 of the Marietta Historic Board of Review for a two-year term expiring February 9, 2019.
About the Historic Board of Review
Marietta's Board of Review makes decisions regarding the preservation of historic buildings within the City's historic district. Marietta's Historic Board of Review was created to help the Downtown Marietta Development Authority consider applications for changes to buildings within the historic district.
