MARIETTA – On Wednesday, November 11, 2020, at the City Council meeting, Council approved an ordinance that allows for open container within an approved entertainment district located in the Marietta downtown.

This ordinance will allow for downtown patrons to purchase alcohol from a business who possesses an active alcohol license and take their alcoholic beverage outside of the establishment to consume within the entertainment district.

Council requires that alcohol be served in a 12oz or less, clear, plastic cup for patrons who wish to take their alcoholic beverage out of the licensed business. The open container allowance within the entertainment district will begin as a 1-year trial. Hours for the new district will be 5pm-10pm on Thursdays, 5pm-11pm on Fridays, and 10am-11pm on Saturdays.

For further details, please refer to the ordinance and the entertainment district map both of which are available here.
