MARIETTA, GA - The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre is excited to announce the return of the fan-favorite musical Sanders Family Christmas, running from November 7 to November 23, 2025. This heartfelt holiday favorite promises an evening filled with laughter, music, and cherished family moments that capture the true spirit of the holidays.
Set on Christmas Eve in 1941, as America enters the war, the Sanders Family and Reverend Mervin Oglethorpe are back at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church as Dennis Sanders prepares to join the fight. His family gathers for one last holiday revival performance, sending him off with a mix of hilarious and touching stories while performing beloved Southern Gospel Christmas favorites. With its mix of humor, heartfelt storytelling, and uplifting music, Sanders Family Christmas has long been a beloved favorite that delights audiences of all ages.
“I grew up with this kind of music, and getting to bring it to life on stage always feels like coming home,” said Director Cindi Costoulas. “I love seeing people who grew up with people just like these characters and this kind of music get to experience it again, while new audiences discover it for the first time. The cast and creative team bring such talent and authenticity to it, and the show strikes this balance between humor and heart that’s so southern and so true. Getting to share that with our audiences at The Strand, especially for the holiday season, is such a joy.”
Sanders Family Christmas stars Domenic Jungling (Reverend Oglethorpe), J. Michael Bonnette (Burl Sanders), Annie Cook (Vera Sanders), London McKenna (June Sanders), Luke Kasner (Dennis Sanders), Isabella Engberg (Denise Sanders), and Allen Harbold (Stanley Sanders).
Following Sanders Family Christmas, The Strand’s theatrical season will continue with A Christmas Tradition (December 12 to December 21, 2025), capping off the year with more festive spirit and beloved holiday music.
