MARIETTA, GA - The City of Marietta is pleased to announce the selection of Patina Brown to serve as the Director of Finance. In this role, Brown will oversee the City and Marietta Board of Lights and Water’s financial operations, bringing her extensive experience and leadership to guide the department and support the City’s long-term fiscal health.
After an open search and competitive interview process that attracted applicants from multiple states, Brown was selected based on her demonstrated expertise in municipal finance and her proven track record in leading the department. Prior to assuming the role of Director, Brown served as Acting Director and Deputy Director of Finance for the City of Marietta, where she has played an important role in maintaining the City’s strong financial standing and fiscal responsibilities.
During Brown’s 11-year tenure at the City, the Finance Department has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award and has continued earning the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association. Brown holds a Master of Public Administration from the University of Georgia, is a Certified Local Government Manager through the Carl Vinson Institute of Government, as well as a Certified Retirement Plan Fiduciary.
“I am very excited to announce that Patina Brown is being promoted to the position of Finance Director for the City of Marietta,” said City Manager Bill Bruton, Jr. “Mrs. Brown has worked hard to show that she is the right person to lead the Finance Department, and I am sure that she will be very successful in the new role.”
