MARIETTA, GA - The Marietta Police Department hosted a promotional pinning ceremony on July 8, 2025, at 9:00 AM for friends, family, and coworkers of newly promoted Major Gretchen Ingram.  Roughly 50 people gathered to celebrate, with Chief Beam and Deputy Chiefs Twaddell and Rutland leading the ceremony.  Chief Beam thanked Major Ingram’s friends and family members for supporting her law enforcement journey that now spans over 25 years.  Deputy Chief Rutland highlighted Major Ingram’s many accomplishments (below in her bio) and reminded her that the ceremony is more than just announcing she has earned a new title, it’s recognizing her years of dedicated service, proven leadership, and relentless commitment to duty.  Deputy Chief Rutland emphasized that the promotion is not a reward, it’s a responsibility, one that the command staff is sure she is ready for.

Major Ingram was pinned with her new badge by her daughter.
