MARIETTA, GA - The City of Marietta and Marietta Fire Department will host a traditional fire service "Push-In Ceremony" on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Fire Station 55, located at 1160 Franklin Gateway. The ceremony will celebrate the arrival of two new fire engines recently added to the Department’s fleet.
The "Push-In Ceremony" dates back to the 1800s, when firefighters would manually push horse-drawn engines back into the station bay after returning from a call. Today, this tradition serves as a symbolic gesture to welcome new engines into service.
Marietta’s two new 2025 KME engines were ordered in 2022 and purchased using SPLOST funds. Each engine was secured at approximately $680,000, which is more than 24% below the current market cost. They are designed to match the layout and specifications of the existing fleet, helping ensure operational consistency across the Department. Once the manufacturer completed the build, the City’s Fleet Division and IT Department collaborated to install advanced technologies and updated equipment to support faster, more efficient emergency response. This purchase upgrades one-third of the City’s front-line engines and keeps the Department on schedule with its 10-year replacement cycle.
The new engines support the City’s vision to provide a safe environment for our citizens and businesses while advancing its goal of providing the highest quality of services. The engines will be placed in service at Station 55 on Franklin Gateway and Station 56 on Sawyer Road.
