MARIETTA, GA - This September, The Earl and Rachel Smith Strand Theatre proudly marks its 90th anniversary on September 24th, celebrating nine decades of laughter, music, storytelling, and community. Since its establishment in 1935, The Strand has become a cherished landmark on the corner of Marietta Square, evolving from its glamorous beginnings as a movie palace to a thriving performing arts center, hosting over 200 events annually.
To honor this milestone, The Strand will host a weeklong celebration September 23-28, 2025, featuring performances, film screenings, and community events that evoke treasured memories and inspire future generations. Tickets range from $5–$80, with group discounts available.
"Reaching our 90th anniversary is both a celebration of the past and a commitment to the future. Every performance, every audience member, and every partner has shaped The Strand into what it is today, and this milestone is our chance to honor that collective journey," said Manda Costoulas, Operations Director of The Strand.
A highlight of the celebration is the return of Cobb Idol, the theatre’s signature benefit concert, featuring singers from across Cobb County competing to be named this year’s Cobb Idol. Tickets are $19.35 in recognition of the year The Strand opened its doors. The event runs approximately two hours, including intermission, with lobby doors opening at 6:30 PM, seating at 7:00 PM, and the performance beginning at 7:30 PM.
