Envision Marietta LCI

Envision Marietta Livable Centers Initiative (LCI)

In 2000, the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) selected the City of Marietta as one of the first twelve communities to kick-off the now nationally recognized Livable Centers Initiative (LCI) program.

Marietta’s downtown area was designated as a regional activity center, and was awarded federal funds to conduct a master plan for the downtown and in-town areas of Marietta. The plan was completed and adopted by City Council in 2001, and since that date many of the recommended projects and policies have been implemented by the City.

Five-year updates were conducted in 2005 and 2011 to assess the implementation program, with a major update of the plan conducted in 2019. Utilizing an extensive public engagement process, the major update included an assessment of the existing plan and current conditions within the study area, a residential and commercial market analysis, and an updated concept report and implementation plan.  Updating the Envision LCI allows the City to continue to further spur redevelopment and provide a high quality of life within Marietta.
