The Marietta Fire Department provides a comprehensive and intense recruit school. Once an individual successfully completes the hiring process, he or she enters into a five-month program that encompasses both fire and emergency medical training.
The training staff has an average 20 years in the fire service. Using National Professional Qualifications (NPQ) guidelines, the training staff designs coursework that lays the foundation from which recruit instructors work. Lead instructors are department officers who are committed to delivering multi-dimensional teaching. The recruit training highlights include the water tower rappel, the field crawl, the live burn, and the crucible.
