Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3®) rp3

Marietta Power has maintained the American Public Power Association (APPA) RP3 award for nine years. Our current certification is at the Diamond (highest) level which has been achieved for the third consecutive term. The RP3 designation represents a high level of service to public power communities nationwide. Utilities who achieve this recognition stand out as models for safe and reliable utility operations. RP3 recognizes public power utilities that demonstrate proficiency in four key disciplines:  Reliability, Safety, Workforce Development and System Improvement.  This certification means that we are offering the highest, safest, and most reliable service to our customers on a continual basis.

Marietta Power was recognized by the Georgia Electric Municipal Safety Task Force and Electric Cities of Georgia, at the Platinum level, for our dedication and commitment to achieve an environment and culture of safety excellence:  “Doing our jobs Safely Always”

 Fault Detection, Isolation & Restoration (FDIR)
Marietta Power is the 1st utility in the country to be chosen for a pilot for the new FDIR technology which will be deployed to reduce the intensity of the worst kinds of power outages and is expected to reduce our restoration efforts by more than 75%.
  

Water / Sewer

Distribution System of Excellence (Gold Award/ Platinum Award) GAWP

Marietta Water also received statewide recognition from the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) for operations and management of a water distribution system.  Award criteria include staff training and state certifications, safety programs, preventative maintenance programs, standard operating procedures, emergency response programs, and water loss.  A grade of 95 percent or better is required in all of these categories to receive the Gold award designation.  The Platinum status indicates we have won the System of Excellence Gold Award for Distribution Systems for 5 consecutive years in a row!
