Coffee, Campfires, and Cryptids
September 18 - 6pm
Atherton Square
A night of myths, legends, and cryptic creatures! Did you know North Georgia is one of the most infamous Bigfoot sighting hubs? Or that Savannah has its very own Loch-Ness Monster? Come join us in Atherton Square as we celebrate the fascinating myths that surround us! Let’s discuss the stories of the Mothman… see if we can sniff out the Skunk Ape… and learn the origins behind the Wendigo. While enjoying coffee/hot chocolate from Cool Beans, or a drink from our local restaurants, visitors can shop for folklore at the Reading Attic or research local Marietta Myths at the Marietta History Center.
This mini festival is one where you never know what you are going to get. Features might include silly panel discussions about the merits of Bigfoot versus the Big Chicken, or comedy and improv shows that showcase Cryptid characters. You could possibly make a number of crafts feature myths such as mothman wings, tiny bigfoot castes, or wendigo deterrent. Finally, end the night with a showing of an episode of finding bigfoot, or other cryptid centered movie or show.
